2K Sports will send Jon Rahm $ 1.75 million in PGA Tour 2K21 in-game currency to compensate for an unfinished tournament.
Golf pro Jon Rahm had to retire from the Memorial Tournament in June after testing positive for Covid-19. He had just finished his third round and was leading the tournament by six strokes at the time. As a result, he was banned from the tournament and missed the chance to win huge amounts of money.
.@JonRahmpga – Shame about the $ 1.75 million last week … but don’t worry! We got you covered.
$ 1.75 million virtual # PGATOUR2k21 Currency is coming at you!
We’re here to wish you the best of luck and ALL the birdies (and an ace or two) on the links this week. 🤞 pic.twitter.com/LhH4rPqPWA

Event winner Patrick Cantlay took home $ 1.674 million for the win. It’s not certain that Jon Rahm would have won the tournament if he had made the finals, but even if he had finished last, he could have won more than $ 19,000.
In any case, if Rahm is to play PGA Tour 2K21, he is likely to have a lifetime to use the $ 1.75 million VC to buy any in-game item.
PGA Tour 2K21 was a huge success for 2K with more than 2 million units sold. The franchise is set to continue with a larger profile in the future as Tiger Woods has been hired as a consultant for the franchise in the future.
