The last game of CD project red continues to fuel the news and general dissatisfaction, even among Polish developers. As reported by Jason Schreier for BloombergA part of the team was present at a video conference last Thursday Cyberpunk 2077 and studio management.
Indeed, and according to two witnesses present at the said conference, the sound rose very quickly after management apologized for the game’s dangerous start. The team, very annoyed a priori, did not hesitate to attack various capital points: the crisis that has been imposed on the staff in recent months, the lack of realism regarding the progress of the game’s development, the dangerous communication since the postponement in January and the general damage to the studio’s reputation.
If we refer to the history of CD Projekt Red, it is the development of The Witcher 3 had already shown that identical team management practices were being used. This liability seems to be well anchored in the memories of the developers and would have fueled their anger in a direction that has not learned anything from the past.
Given the rolling fire of the critics, it was merely pointed out that talks were underway with Sony about a possible refund of the game (which will prove to be a resounding shock to the overall spread of online games the next day) and that they have been since the beginning of the Year had taken full responsibility for the dangerous communication of the studio. On a social level, she vaguely stated that she was introducing new methods of production to avoid the famous crisis and overtime without going into details or making a specific commitment.
Finally, one of the points the team is referring to is the general irony of the situation: Management was aware that it was asking its employees to work in unfortunate conditions for months to create a game that denounces a world (certainly virtual) corporatist and slavery? A priori, the leaders would have resisted an embarrassed silence.
The gap between the anti-system anger of Johnny Silverhand, charismatic protagonist of Cyberpunk 2077, and that of the staff at the Polish studio seems to be narrowing this year!
