Destiny 2 is one of those games that we currently know as Games as a Service. What does it mean? Well rIt really refers to the fact that we are faced with a title that intends to last a long time thanks to its constant updates.. Another example of this type of business is Sea of Thieves.
Having said that, today we have to talk about the new Destiny 2 expansion, which has been called Beyond the light and that will take us directly to Europe. In this new frozen destination, we will have to face many adventures, while learning more details about a tradition (called Grimoire in the Destiny universe) which becomes richer and more extensive.
The first thing that catches our attention that has to do with this new expansion is the drastic reduction that the game has undergone in terms of disk size from just over 120 GB to around 60 and a few GB. The reason is none other than the removal of a large number of locations and adventures that we have available since the start of the game (
To a moon not so far away
The story of this new expansion, Beyond the light, begins at the end of the previous season. In this, the traveler absorbs the energy of different worlds and these disappear from the map, presenting us with a new location called Europe.
In Europe we will find ourselves a frozen world, full of empty spaces, and in which we must help Variks to stop the new Kell from the dead, Private (also known as “Kell of Darkness”). This one united many fallen clans in a new, The house of salvation, and who reproaches the traveler for having abandoned the dead. Fans of the saga will already know Eramis, although so far we haven’t had the pleasure of seeing his face. And it was she who commanded the dead in charge of stealing the Epidemic perfected.
Eramis, to take revenge on the traveler, finds a way to use the darkness against him, stasis, which will be represented in our guardians as a new subclass. This new subclass is geared towards the realm of the element ice and comes in different ways depending on which Guardian we’re using. An interesting addition that continues to add variety to the Bungie title.
What is there beyond the light?
In “Beyond the Light” we start the game in the new location, Europe, having to go and save our old friend Variks, who is caught by Eramis. Once released and completed the initial mission, we will have all the parts of this new expansion available. We will have the following news (all trying not to spoil you much):
First of all, we have a new main adventure, which is nothing more than going after Eremis to destroy him and get the Variks to unite the clans again.
On the other hand, a new artifact, called Fang of Xivu Arath. This is included in the new season, “The Hunting Season”, which takes place between November 10, 2020 and February 9, 2021. As is common, a new raid, call The crypt of the deep stone.
Apart from the above we find two new warehouses located in La Torre. The one in which we will have available all the abandoned adventures of the game; and another in which pWe will acquire the exceptional equipment that we could obtain with the adventures in retirement in exchange for hardware, prisms, lumens, exceptional encryption, ..
We keep adding content, and we also have three new lost sectors located in Europe. This can be done with a higher difficulty, starting the expansion with a power level of 1050.
Content and hours everywhere
Finally, we cannot fail to mention that we will also have La Costa Enredada, where La Araña’s new lackey, El Cuervo (the animal is the thing), will offer a new quest called La Chasse aux Furies. In this one you will have to reload the baits by playing gambit and crucible, then use them in different places and be able to hunt down the different furies.
Considering the above, it is clear that this new addition will give us many hours of fun. And, as usual within the franchise, each new expansion means that many players are returning to put themselves in the shoes of their guardians.
Conclusion, Destiny 2: Beyond the Light, introduces a new expansion loaded with missions, adventures and challenges. That, although they are not a great novelty compared to the previous ones, it will make us continue to devote many hours to the saga. However, while very entertaining, we are missing some new features or mechanics to continue to expand the playable level of the franchise. It is at this point that maybe this expansion can be penalized a bit, which does its job, but does not reach the outstanding rating.
