What could be better than getting together virtually with friends to play cooperative or competitive games. good Arcadeggedon, the new title of Illfonic, creators of Predator: Hunting grounds O Friday the 13th: the game, is ready to offer us both options in the same game.
The title has just entered the phase of Early access, for the moment only on PC and PS5, with a release scheduled for early 2022. Although since Illfonic They intend to launch the title on other platforms for the launch of version 1.0, they say according to the press release we received. From the Xbox community, we were able to test this frenzied shooter in its PC version of the Epic game store.
Arcadeggedon is an arcade shooter set in a futuristic retro world with an air of the 80s. Our character arrives in the arcade room of Gilly, who tries to save his company from an evil mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co
To do this, we have to scan our body and travel through the game that occupies the best place in Gilly’s room and face a large number of enemies. We will have at our disposal lots of weapons and abilities to destroy the threat of evil Fun Fun Co. Our entrusted task can be accomplished alone, with friends or in a team with strangers thanks to an efficient matchmaking system.
In a team or alone, the action does not stop
Once we start our game in Arcadeggedon we will always start with the same equipment, a baseball bat and a gun with endless balls. To move forward, we have to go explore their scenarios, killing all the enemies we meet to get coins to improve our equipment. We will also find hidden chests with weapons of different styles: pistols, disc launchers, missile launchers, laser beams or even sniper rifles. This type of weapon has limited ammo, which can be replenished by breaking boxes that we will find scattered around the map which in turn can also make up for our lost health.
At the equator of each map we will find a moment of rest, where we can invest the earned coins in new weapons, ammunition, health or increase the difficulty of the game to get better rewards. In addition, play as a team with other players, we will enjoy an exclusive game mode
The duration of the levels does not tend to be too long, although it will lengthen as the difficulty of the game increases. Each level will take place in a totally different setting, mixing different urban, natural or futuristic biomes. We will also have different boss phases available, which pose a greater challenge, and when we play co-op we have to synchronize well to survive.
Our games in Arcadeggedon will consist of beating as many levels as possible to get game tickets that we can then exchange for different cosmetic items. As we progress, new characters will appear in Gilly’s Arcade that will give us delicious rewards for completing certain challenges. All that we will be able to unlock will be new aspects for the weapons of the game or accessories with which to dress our character.
Just one more room
It must be said that the feelings at the controls of our character of Arcadeggedon are rather good. Although in terms of gameplay this does not imply any revolution, both the movement, quite agile and dynamic, and the shooting game, are very satisfactory. It is always quite difficult to figure out when to stop playing, because the length of the games and the difficulty curve are very well measured. The variety of enemies is not too extensive and some maps tend to repeat themselves a bit more than desired, but the playable foundations upon which the game is based hold up.
Graphic design, with casual cropped characters cartoon, do not fall in love but conform. Where the game shines the most is in its sound section, which mixes techno, house, dubstep and other styles of electronic music. With an original soundtrack composed by great artists of the genre such as Aaron Rutherford, Jimmy Blythe (AFK), Mark Rutherford, Ray Volpe, in addition to the original themes of Getter, UZ, Took, Halogenix, Milano, South y Swrly. Curiously, the CEO of Illfonic himself, Charles Brungardt, a Grammy winner, produced a few songs for the game.
