FPS Boost, the new option for backward compatible games on Xbox

oriXone February 18, 2021 No Comments

New options arrive for backward compatible games on Xbox Series X | S

Microsoft continues to work on the features of its new consoles. Today we have to talk about full backward compatibility with games that worked on Xbox One, including backward compatibility.. This way in our Xbox Series S | X, we can take advantage of new FPS BOOST mode, which (literally) doubles the backward compatible game’s frames per second in question. With a technique that doesn’t need to touch the original code, it looks like the game is being sped up to double frames, although the game believes it runs at the speed it was limited to. The specific explanation f or this can be seen in the attached Digital Foundry video analysis.

It doesn’t stop here. In addition, In an upcoming update, new options will arrive on the Xbox Series X dashboard | S this spring. Among the new content stands out the ability to enable or disable the well-known Auto HDR that the console offers for backward compatibility. Likewise, The menu will also include the option to enable or disable the new FPS Boost option. Obviously, if these options are active, we will get the signal by pressing the “Xbox” button. Finally, I will tell you that in this first round, we can test FPS Boost in Watch Dogs 2, Far Cry 4, UFC 4, New Super Lucky’s Tale and Sniper Elite 4 right now.

New FPS with boost mode

  • Watch Dogs 2 – 60fps
  • Far Cry 4 – 60fps
  • UF4 – 60 fps
  • Sniper Elite 4-60 fps
  • New Super Lucky Tale – 120 fps

What better time than this to dust off underperforming games like Watch Dogs 2 and give them a second life in the next generation. In addition to enjoying 120 fps on a 3D platform as attractive as New Super Lucky’s Tale, available on Xbox Game Pass. The possibilities are endless with this new option. Hopefully new games come in boost mode every week, just like in the past with backward compatible games on Xbox One.
