We are very excited to announce the release of Update 1.1, which brings mod content into the core experience of Skater XL. We have always viewed Skater XL as a community driven game, and our next step in that direction is to make user-generated content as accessible as possible to players on all platforms. It was an exciting experience working on this with Xbox as it is one of the few games that brings mod content to the console.
In this major update, we’ve added a mod browser to the game’s main menu that allows push-button access to browse, download, and install mods without ever leaving the game. This integration makes it easier than ever for gamers on all platforms to get involved in the community and capitalize on the contributions of the amazing Skater XL Community of creators.
In addition to the “Optimized by Easy Day” versions of Applewood Park, Quebec Skate Plaza and Riverfern maps, Xbox gamers will have access to over 250 pieces of mod equipment, with new items uploaded frequently.
As new mods are uploaded and checked for copyright, quality, and age ratings, and maps are optimized and recreated to run on console hardware, they are made available in the browser, creating a steady stream of new content and endless reasons to come back is.
New material is not limited to just community-created items. We have also added a few new brands to the official gear range which can now be found in the character customizer. You can now rock gear from Uma Landsleds (Evan Smith’s new board brand), Illegal Civ, Cariuma Footwear, Macba Life and Am Grip. We’re excited to continue expanding our partnerships with some of the best brands in skateboarding.
Thank you very much for the support of the Skater XL Xbox Community and are excited to see what the integration of mod content will bring to the platform. We love to see all of your clips and look forward to being more creative with these mods.
For anyone interested in learning how to be a mod creator or how to upload your own mods via the Mod.io website, please check out the Community Run Skater XL Modding Discord for more information.
We hope everyone has a great vacation and see you with more updates in 2021!
