May is a rare month for Apple’s calendar: it falls between the spring event (which took place this year on April 20) and the World Developers Conference (WWDC), which kicks off on June 7.
Now that Apple has introduced the new 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip, the iPad Pro also with the M1, a new Apple TV and the highly anticipated AirTags, we can expect that May be a quiet month as the company is preparing for WWDC.2021.
However, Apple doesn’t always wait for WWDC to introduce new products. In 2019, for example, those in Cupertino announced several new products in the weeks leading up to the event, which took place on June 3 of that year.
That was the schedule before WWDC 2019:
- Apple TV app launched on May 13, 2019
- New MacBook Pro, May 21, 2019
- New iPod touch, May 28, 2019
Even during the year of the pandemic, Apple made these updates in May:
- New MacBook Pro, May 4, 2020
- Logic Pro Update – May 12, 2020
So, as you can see, it’s quite reasonable to think that in 2021, Apple might not be waiting for WWDC to announce, for example, the new MacBook. These are the products that could arrive in May (or June, if Apple decides to wait).
14-inch MacBook Pro
That’s right: Apple could wait until WWDC to present the new 14-inch version of the MacBook Pro, which has been rumored for so long. This would happen with the successor to the M1 chip, the M1X, and the WWC would be the perfect place to show off its novelties.
However, we think WWDC could also be a good place to talk about the true successor to the M1: the M2, which could come in the new iMac 27 “and MacBook Pro 16”. The 14-inch MacBook Pro could arrive earlier to discuss the chip at the event.
New AirPods
Standard AirPods have been waiting for a renewal for a long time. The second generation arrived in March 2019, more than two years. The beta of iOS 14.6 refers to HiFi audio and that could mean new AirPods on the horizon.
Some say this means Apple will reveal new plans to offer an additional subscription premium
The most important thing to remember is that this is only offered by AirPods Pro and AirPods Max at the moment, and that is why it could indicate new standard AirPods now compatible with HiFi audio.
Updates to the operating system
Apple is already testing beta versions of iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, and macOS Big Sur 11.4. As we said before, the iOS update would arrive with high resolution sound for Apple Music.
Either way, it looks like Apple might release the official versions of these updates before WWDC arrives, at which point we’ll finally see the arrival of iOS 15, macOS 12, and the rest of the systems. operating Apple.
New Apple TV + series
In May, Apple is also launching a new series on Apple TV +. On the one hand, Mythic Quest
