What is the cause of this recruitment
This is not the first time I've heard something related to Apple and drones. As of 2016 the company has been using drones for data collection purposes to improve the quality of Apple Maps. Apple drones can capture and update map display data faster than minivans that have been used to collect map information since 2015.
Similarly, in 2018 the apple company also participated in the pilot program which allows the company to operate drones in ways banned by the US Federal Aviation Administration
Bloomberg suggests that this is a move shows a new impetus in the growing field of drone. Apple also has a team working on satellites that Ellman can help with, especially in the matter of laws.
