Apple Pay arrives in Mexico today from Citibanamex

Finally, Apple users in Mexico can take advantage of one of its most outstanding services. Apple Pay just activated in Mexico today, February 23. This is confirmed at least by the Citibanamex bank, which integrates their cards to pay with this mobile payment platform.

In response to a user who ask Citibanamex to activate Apple Pay, the bank itself confirms the arrival of the service today. Over the past few hours, more Twitter users have shared their interaction with the financial institution, as in the following example Tweeter:

According to the entity in its own response, Apple users will be able to add their MasterCard Signature Credit and Debit Cards. Although a few months ago there were rumors about the launch of Apple Pay in Mexico, the truth is that Apple has updated its website for the service in the country indicating its arrival in 2021.

Apple Pay is not yet fully rolled out, although it is expected that During today Mexican users can add their cards to Wallet. Once done, they should be able to initiate payments with the iPhone or Apple Watch at establishments with point-of-sale terminals suitable for mobile payment.

How to add cards and pay with Apple Pay

Adding a card to Apple Pay is a very simple process. Before starting, we must have at least one iPhone 6 onwards. To continue, just follow these steps:

  • On your iPhone, open the Wallet app.
  • In the upper right corner, tap the “+” button.
  • You can scan the card with the iPhone’s camera or enter your data by hand.
  • You will also need to add the CVV.
  • Your bank will initiate the process, which you will need to confirm with a password or SMS.
  • You will receive a confirmation SMS with the activation.

From there you can start paying with your iPhone. To pay with Apple Pay, just press the lock button twice on the iPhone for invoke the map. You will need to authenticate your identity with Touch ID, Face ID, or the iPhone lock code.

How Apple Pay, Apple Cash, and Apple Card are Different

You can also pay with the Apple Watch, for which you’ll have to go to the Watch app> Settings> Wallet and Apple Pay. You will have to confirm the card again with your bank, put the CVV and wait for the activation. To pay with the Apple Watch, just double-press (quickly) the side button next to the digital crown.
