What is a digital certificate?
A digital certificate is a voucher, issued by a verification authority, indicating the address we are visiting no doubt it belongs to the company
In addition, the certificate contains the cryptographic codes used to communicate confidentially between the visitor, us, and the website prevents others from collecting information or transmitting it.
What does a digital certificate include?
Many things, most important are:
- Who issued the certificate: The company that verified the ownership of the domain and confirmed it. We'll find names like VeriSign, Thawte, DigiCert, GlobalSign, Comodo, etc.
- To whom is the certificate issued: The company or organization owns the website we visit. It must match the name we hope to find on the page.
- Certificate expiry date: Most certificates are issued for one, two, or more years. An expired certificate is not always a good sign.
