I'm sure that one day Apple will know that HomeKit codes must be stored somewhere on our iPhone, but we currently have a HomePass system in charge of performing it and functions such as iCloud sync, and now it's something new to decorate and keep up with shortcuts.
The configuration of any HomeKit accessory is so simple that a few-year-old can do it without major problems, but there is one critical thing in it: home code. These numbers are compatible with all of Apple's home automated platform verified services usually come on the card, on a sticker or printed on the device itself. The card is usually lost after a while, the sticker may appear, and the printed code may eventually be turned off, which means that if you have to rebuild the text there will be a major problem.
At the beginning of HomeKit I dedicated myself to copying all the numbers in the Notes app, until I got the HomePass program, from the same developer as the HomeRun integral to managing our locations from the Apple Watch. After a long time with many updates, HomePass has become an important application for any HomeKit user thanks to its convenience and on important functions like iCloud sync or auto backup every time a change is detected.

Adding a new add-on to HomePass is easy, with the option of directly installing an already added Home device, or completely new. In the first case, it will already capture all the details of the acquisition, including its serial number, manufacturer, room and apartment (where it has several). You will only need to scan the home code
Once you have found all the accessories that you can switch between the different houses you have, view them in rooms or sections, access all entry details, add custom fields, copy HomeKit code, etc. Mine the most important thing is the automated backup process including that you can work from application settings. Each time you add an entry to HomePass, the app will create a PDF document that you can store in iCloud and that you can access it from your iPhone, iPad or Mac with all HomeKit codes for all your well-ordered accessories.
I'm leaving the end with another activity I love: HomePass for Apple Watch. Of course sometimes you have to remove the HomeKit add-on to add it later. Of course the HomeKit code wasn't easily accessible … if you still have one. Thanks to Apple Watch HomePass we can scan the code in a very easy way: Discover receipts on your Apple Watch and it will show you a numeric or QR code (whichever you save) so you can scan directly with the camera on your iPhone.
HomePass is available on the App Store for € 3.49 in the form of a universal app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, without subscriptions or other integrated purchases. You can download it from this link.
