Like every year, in June, we hope to see the renewal of all the operating systems that bring Apple devices to life. As for the iPhone, we will talk about iOS 15, an operating system which, according to the latest information available to us, would remove support for the original iPhone 6s and iPhone SE from 2016.
Updates for over six years
The information comes from the French site iPhoneSoft, which indicates that devices with an A9 processor, namely the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone SE (2016), will not be compatible with iOS 15. Quant to the iPad, the post calculates that iPadOS 15 no longer supports iPad mini 4 (2015), iPad Air 2 (2014), and iPad 5 (2017) which respectively mount the A8, A8X and A9 processors.
Thus, the oldest processors to support iOS 15 will be the A10s, which place the top of the list on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. It should be remembered that the iPhone 6s was presented in 2015
This this is the second time we hear rumors support that will offer iOS 15. In November of last year, website The Verifier released the same information about the iPhone 6s and iPhone SE. Although as always, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation during WWDC.
It’s clear that Apple wants to provide the maximum possible support for older devices. The truth is, it’s pretty rare to be able to update a phone with the best operating systems every year for six years. While waiting for official confirmation of compatibility, we can imagine the list of new features that may come with iOS 15, the candidates are numerous.
