Zepp Health, the company we once knew as Huami, continues to launch proposals for smartwatches of various types. You could say that it is the company that has the best catalog for all users.
They range from inexpensive products like the Amazfit Band 5 to high-end watches like the Zepp Z.
And in this catalog he also has ultra-resistant watches, able to withstand temperatures of over 70 degrees or submerge tens of meters in water.
The new Amazfit watch belongs to this type. His name is Amazfit T-Rex Pro and we used it for a week.

A robust design, very robust
This watch didn’t surprise as much as its predecessor as it hasn’t changed much on the outside. However, if we compare it with other smartwatches, the differences are obvious.
We have a 1.3 inch screen with a remarkable crown that also protrudes from the glass. It may be strange when using the touchscreen, but protects the watch from shocks
Keep in mind that this type of watch is designed to be used in extreme situations. Not in vain supports 10 ATM aquatic dives (100 meters)Strength, military certification, and even removal of the straps require a small screwdriver or wrench.
The idea is that it is not easy for her to hang on to one side or the other and fall off our wrist.
The Amazfit T-Rex Pro has 4 physical buttons
The presence of four physical buttons, two on each side, in addition to the touchscreen, is also striking in the design.
This choice makes perfect sense as we might want to use the watch in circumstances where the screen is unresponsive, wet, dirty, etc.
Although I did not perform risky activities, I found myself using these buttons in the normal way, although the chosen one to come back (everyone has their name on it) was somewhat uncomfortable, can -be because I wear the watch on my left wrist.
A bright screen
The panel used in the Amazfit T-Rex Pro uses OLED technology, has a diagonal of 1.39 inch and sufficient maximum brightness, which is very necessary because it will be outside where we will use this type of the most. smartwatches.
The touchpad responds well and the interface has changed slightly. We now have the notifications in the left area and the configurable maps below. There we can show each other the most relevant information, such as weather, pulse measurement, etc.
The only thing that has not convinced me is that the rotating motion to activate the screen, while there is, is not as fast as in other models. Of course, it is appreciated that you can turn on the screen by pressing any button.
The expected functions
The Amazfit T-Rex Pro does not differ in the software section from other watches. Yes we have a face to control the phases of the moon, or the integration of buttons to snooze alarms, for example, but there are no very distinctive options.
Can we record more than 100 different kinds of exercise, measure sleep, pulse, blood oxygen saturation, etc.
Options like mobile music control are maintained (although it did not work for us, surely due to an error which can be fixed by updating the software) or the call notification, but unlike the Amazfit GTS 2, we don’t have a speaker and microphone to be able to talk, something that would be interesting when we row, climb or do other activities.
One of the greatest autonomies seen
Amazfit promises up to 18 days of total autonomy with normal use, although the reality will sometimes be closer to two weeks of use. Still, it’s one of the more battery-powered watches we’ve tested.
Obviously if we use GPS the battery will drain much faster, giving us around 40 hours. With average use, we’ll get closer to ten days.
The Amazfit T-Rex Pro is a unique watch
It’s possible that this is the watch I would recommend the most for a very specific user niche, and least for the rest.
I have friends who would love to wear this watch on their wrist when hiking, running, climbing or canoeing. Obviously, if we never play sports and never work in an office, Amazfit has better options.
Of course, if we highly value the resistance of a watch, the autonomy and its sporting functions, there is no better option than the Amazfit T-Rex Pro for the 170 dollars that it costs.
