Many users enjoy the benefits that AirDrop offers us, not only for sharing any file type with our closest (physical) friends but also for sending content from Mac to iPhone / iPad / iPod touch and vice versa. Google has been working elsewhere for a while
Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo work on a protocol that allows sending any kind of file to nearby devices like AirDrop. The next manufacturer to introduce the same function is Samsung, and will probably do that internally launch of Galaxy S20 (Galaxy S11).
According to the guys at XDA Developers, this function will be called Quick Budget and will work in the same way as AirDop, allowing us to quickly send any kind of data, whether files or contacts from other Galaxy in the surrounding area, as long as both channels are active.
As with AirDrop, Galaxy terminal users can restrict who can post content (Everyone or Contacts). But not everything will be exactly the same as AirDrop, from there Quick Sharing will have space in the temporary cloud which will allow users to send data to Samsung SmartThings smart devices. The maximum size for these files will be 1 GB at a maximum of 2 GB per day.
AirDrop came from the hand of iOS 7. Android had a similar function called Android Beam, a task that disappeared with the introduction of Android 10. From there, users should turn to the traditional way, in blue, to share any form of communication or file.
For both QuickShare and the Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo protocols to work in an AirDrop alternative, they must allow content to be sent to computers, at least those Windows-controlled.
