Similar to what other messaging apps already offer, Telegram gives us the ability to block the app with a code so that only we can access its content. A very useful feature, for example on an iPad that we can use shared or that our youngest children can borrow frequently.
Not just Face ID or Touch ID, but also a passcode
The importance of the information stored in an email application is more than considerable, so many applications offer more than one means of protecting access so that only we can access their content. Telegram, I must say, offers a combination of the most complete options and this will allow us to configure the application exactly as we want. The steps to follow are as follows:
- We open the app Telegram on our iPhone or iPad.
- We enter the tab Settings.
- We played on Privacy and Security.
- We played on Code and Face ID.
- We choose Activation code.
- We create a six-digit code.
- We repeat it.
With this we realize that from now on the app asks us for this code to access the information. There are, however, three details to keep in mind. The first is that in step six we can press Code options to create, instead of a six-digit code, one of four or an alphanumeric password.
The second is that, if we wish, we can activate the option Unblock with Face ID / Touch ID. This is an option that will give us a lot of convenience, but, at the same time, it will allow a person with an alternate appearance configured or with their fingerprints registered next to ours to also access the content of our chats.
Finally we can choose how long does it take for the app to plant and ask us for the code. We will do this after the seventh step of the option Self-locking. We can choose between a minute, five, an hour or five hours.
With all of these options, it’s clear that Telegram is aware that the privacy of our conversations is important. With the amount of options offered by the application, we can protect it very effectively, even if our iPhone or iPad does not have biometric access methods
Finally, let’s take into account that just because the app is password protected doesn’t prevent message notifications from being visible with the iPhone or iPad unlocked. In addition, These notifications allow you to respond directly to the sender of themselves. Fortunately, this is something we can fix very easily.
Just open the app Settings, let’s enter Notifications and touch Telegram to can adjust Show previews a Never. In this way, we will have to open the app to see the content of the communication. What about preventing someone from changing this setting? In Settings > Use time we can block the use of the application Settings, although it is a fairly fine spinning.
Either way, it is appreciated that apps like Telegram give us the tools to keep our conversations private. It might not seem like a big deal, but the amount of personal information flowing through these apps is more than considerable.
