Even to this day, there is a lot of confusion over what is actually included in an Apple TV + subscription. Part of that is because the TV + content is bundled together in the Apple TV app, where there is a lot more content.
In fact, the TV app is where we find other content from Apple, as well as other content distributors. Some of this Apple content is free and some is not.
For example, if you are looking for the movie Wonder Woman 1984 In the Apple TV app (where you just see Apple is promoting it), you’ll see that it gives you the option to buy it for $ 13.99 and watch it from your Apple TV. This is what we used to know as the iTunes Store.
In this article, we’ll walk you through exactly what you get for free when you sign up for Apple TV +.
What is included with Apple TV +?
When Apple released Apple TV +, only a few series were available, such as The morning show, To see O For all mankind. Over the next few months, more were added, such as Mythic Quest, Ted lasso O Trying.
At the time of writing, 47 series and 17 films are available on Apple TV +. You can see our favorites or a list of upcoming releases.
If you factor in the huge catalogs from Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney +, and other platforms, Apple TV + is a bit lacking and it’s no surprise that people aren’t willing to pay for the service. from Apple (even after trying the free trial).
How to know which series are included in Apple TV +
If you have an Apple TV + subscription and want to know what content is included, you need to go to the “Channels” section and tap on the Apple TV + icon. This will take you to the section of the Apple TV app where all of the subscription content is hosted.
There is a new shortcut to this section in the iPhone and iPad app. Basically you will need to tap on the “Originals” icon at the bottom of the screen and it will take you straight to this section.
Why do I have to pay to watch Apple TV?
If you’ve gotten this far, it’s probably because you’re wondering why you can’t watch something on Apple TV without paying. You are not the only one: many people ask for it on a daily basis.
As explained above, the only content included in an Apple TV + subscription is original Apple content.
It’s no surprise that people are confused, since the Apple TV app also displays the content you need to buy or rent in the “Movies & TV” section.
Although in some cases it won’t be worth it as you can surely find it on Netflix or a similar platform, in others you will have to do it if it is not available. It is also an option if you want to keep it forever.
However, we don’t think Apple is making a lot of revenue from these series and movies that you can buy and rent.
The series you can watch for free on Apple TV +
Apple allows you to watch the first episode of various series for free. In fact, there are currently 38 free chapters of series like Ted lasso, The morning show, To see O Trying.
What can you watch for free on Apple TV?
This question is not as easy to answer as it seems. Basically, the confusion stems from the fact that Apple has three different products of the same name: the Apple TV device, the Apple TV + subscription service, and the TV app.
In short, that’s all you can see on your Apple TV or in the TV app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac:
- Purchased series (formerly the iTunes Store)
- Movies bought or rented
- Content you downloaded yourself
- Content available on an Apple TV channel (Apple TV services) diffusion external to which you can subscribe from the TV application)
- Content from other subscription services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney +
- On-demand TV content
- Apple TV + content if you are a subscriber
You can use the TV app to find out where certain content is available and thus decide which app to watch it in.
One of the benefits of using the Apple TV app is that if you have a Disney + membership and are trying to rent Frozen, the Disney app will open directly for you to view for free.
The same goes for a series like Modern family. You can see what it costs to rent an episode from Apple, but if you scroll down you’ll see it’s available on Amazon Prime.
Of course, you can enjoy all Apple TV + content for free if you use the trial period or take advantage of one of our methods of watching Apple TV + for free.
