Update we 14. May 2021: After harsh criticism from the community, Blizzard reacts and massively lowers the prices for cloning characters.
Im official Blizzard forum Community Manager Kaivax commented and also gives reasons for the initially high price:
“This service – providing a player with a second copy of a character in another game – is new to us. Our original concept of the value of this service was largely based on how we price other optional items and services.”
According to a statement from Kaivax, players on the Classic Era Realm should be able to rely on guilds and other players. It remains unclear whether this is the only reason for the high price at the beginning. Following feedback from the community, Blizzard has decided to lower the price in order to meet its own goals for the new service.
Kaivax says:
“However, over the past week we received a lot of feedback from the community and so we decided to lower the price. A lower price will likely still achieve our goals with the new service while also giving a lot more players the ability to play characters both Play on Classic Era as well as Burning Crusade Classic Realms. “
Cloning is almost 60 percent cheaper: Blizzard originally charged 35 dollars for cloning a character. Now the price has been reduced to 15 dollars. The new price will soon be visible in the WoW in-game shop.
Original message: Blizzard has finally announced the release date for World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic: The Dark Portal will open on June 2, 2021 at midnight Europe time and players can visit Outland again.

Burning Crusade Classic: Release date and pre-patch date
At the s ame time, the publisher announced the prices for additional services such as character level boosts – which are quite high to the annoyance of many fans.
Harsh prices for level boosts and character clones
Burning Crusade is actually a free extension for WoW Classic that is included in every regular WoW subscription. Active players who have reached at least level 58 on any of their heroes can seamlessly continue into Burning Crusade.
But if you want to play the new content with a new character for the release, you have to dig deep into your pocket or invest a lot of time. Everyone who has not played WoW Classic yet, but would like to experience Burning Crusade again, is facing the same problem.
It can get expensive: The Pass to the Dark Portal allows you to boost a character directly to level 58. However, this costs a hefty 40 dollars and is also not applicable to the new blood elves and draenei races.
Pretty expensive too: If you want to play with your hero in WoW Classic as well as in Burning Crusade, you have to clone your character. But you also have to pay 35 dollars for this. If you do not use this service, you have to decide whether you want to stay in Classic or play Burning Crusade.
Anger at expensive character services
For many WoW fans, the prices are much too high, like many Comments on Reddit make clear.
So write about Magmoug:
“You can run away with the $ 35 it costs to keep a copy of our character on Classic servers. It’s such a shameless rip-off for a service that should be included and free with the release of BC Classic . “
Metalloclol sees the future of WoW Classic threatened by the pricing:
“The $ 35 per character copy is the real problem. This is going to kill the Classic Vanilla population. Absolutely insane price.”
The price of the Deluxe Edition, which contains a level boost and some cosmetic items such as a mount, is also reduced by Kanipsu harshly criticized:
“Fuck 70 dollars for a deluxe edition. You got a game for Shadowlands. Now it’s 70 dollars for a bunch of cosmetics. That’s greedy crap.”
How pricing works with in-game stores was already a topic at Devcom in 2017. We have prepared the presentation at GameStar Plus:

A short pre-patch also causes displeasure
The new prizes in connection with the two-week pre-patch, in which you can theoretically level up blood elves and draenei, also caused a lot of criticism – also in the GameStar community.
Mikutse writes:
“Mega ridiculous again. Blizzard promises the players that they will have enough time to level their horde of Palas and Ally Schamys in order to be able to continue with their people at BC-Start. And now? 2 weeks pre-patch. Crazy … If you can’t play ~ 30 hours a week, you’re looking into the tube again. “
And Fiz is still unsure whether such a sprint can be achieved:
“Only 2 weeks to play high? That’s where I’m flapping my ears. I’ll have to come up with a strategy. At the moment it just sounds utopian to me.”
Although the number of experience points required will be reduced between level 20 and 60 in the pre-patch, upgrading a character from level 1 to 58 in two weeks should still be a challenge.
