- After Samsung, another manufacturer has announced that it will distribute updates for three years.
- Phones of the Vivo X series, which will be launched on the market after July 2021, will receive three Android versions.
- Older smartphones are only given security updates.
There is movement in the subject Android-Updates. So far only distributed Google corresponding updates longer than two years. Only recently, however, has also Samsung and Nokia decided to take this step – at least for selected models. Now another manufacturer follows: Vivo.
Like the tech blog XDA Developers reported, all Vivo X devices that will be launched on the market after July 2021 will receive three Android versions. Unfortunately, this promise does not apply to the current X range.
The new update policy is intended to affect the European, Indian and Australian markets. Older devices should still receive security updates.
