Nintendo almost killed us in a Direct with information about Animal Crossing: New Horizons. We were also able to sniff an hour of island air in person. Some things knocked us out of the sandals for joy, but others still give us a headache.
Highlight 1: The connection with Pocket Camp
One of the biggest concerns of fans was that Animal Crossing: New Horizons somehow copied from the mobile spin-off Pocket Camp. Since the introduction of fortune cookies, basically loot boxes, the mobile game has been extremely money-hungry and repetitive. New Horizons will still have a connection to Pocket Camp, albeit a positive one: If you play both titles, you will get thematically appropriate items from the other game to beautify the lonely island or the campsite. No microtransactions, no fruit grind. Island life is saved.
