After receiving criticism about Anthem's lack of content and unlovable loot system, BioWare announced in a new blog that Anthem will undergo a "substantial makeover" in the coming months.
Anthem did not start well after its launch in 2019, and faces criticism for poor task execution, repeated endgame content and lack of a decent booty pool. A few months ago, Kotaku reported that Anthem was about to undergo an overhaul and confirmed yesterday that this change was coming.
Casey Hudson announced on a blog yesterday that a new dedicated team will spend time "long-term redesigning the experience, specifically working to reshape the core game loop with clear goals to make sense Reward motivates challenges and progress. "
This new team will focus on improving the product rather than focusing on stability and performance. Gameplay First, the National Anthem is much needed.
Over the p ast year, there have been some seasonal updates (formerly known as behaviors) that will be removed in later versions of Anthem. Hudson confirmed last September that BioWare would not abandon Anthem, but it would take time to create and implement such a huge change.
However, Anthem will not disappear soon, as Casey confirms that the current version of Anthem is still playable, and BioWare plans to "continue the game, update the store, and revisit past seasonal and cataclysmic content", including a special anniversary event .
It's unclear how long this process will take, or whether reinventing la Final Fantasy 14 will succeed. BioWare may remain silent as usual, but in the meantime, you can look forward to the anniversary event.
