Supporters of the Borderlands franchise had to wait a long time for Borderlands 3, but according to new rumors it shouldn’t be that long until the next part. A spin-off should already be in the works.
In autumn 2019, after several years of waiting, Borderlands 3 was finally released, a new part of the looter shooter franchise. If you believe new rumors, fans of the brand don’t have to wait that long until the next title this time. A spin-off should therefore already be in the works.
In a report takes effect Geamreactor lists some potential secret projects and also mentions a new Borderlands. After you had to wait five years for Borderlands 3 after Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, “a new Borderlands is much closer than you think”, it says there. It should not be about the next numbered part of Borderlands 4, but about a spin-off. And: The title should definitely bring some innovations compared to the current part.
The report was published a little later by GamesBeat-Reporter Jeff Grubb picked up, who is considered a reliable insider on the scene. He also heard of a new Borderlands, but threw into the room that Gearbox Software may not act as a developer itself, but only support it. Either way, the chances for a new Borderlands seem to be good.
The latter circumstance was then picked up by Gearbox co-founder Randy Pitchford on Twitter. He doesn’t even deny a new part, but affirms that the rumors that Gearbox is only a co-developer are not true. “That speculation is incorrect. Gearbox is the lead developer of all future games within the Borderlands franchise without any co-development,” said Pitchford.
