It came how it had to come: Valorant also has to fight with cheaters. The developer has already banned the first. But more are already in sight. Riot Games wants the game keep free from fraudsters and is confident to do that.
Paul Chamberlain – programmer and head of the developer's anti-cheat department – comments on the situation on Twitter. He hoped that they would have a little more time before it started. But now the fight started
Well it sucks, but today we had to ban our first cheater (and it looks like more bans are on the horizon).
I was hoping for a little more time before this fight kicked off but we're in it now and we're ready.

How does Valorant's anti-cheat work?
Valorant does not rely on well-known tools such as Battleye or EAC, but uses its own creation called Vanguard. Although it was developed specifically for the new online shooter, it should also work independently and can therefore be integrated into other titles.
Riot's tool automatically blocks fraudsters who use known cheats. The developer also uses this data to train Vanguard and to recognize unknown aimbots and the like. An AI will later be used for this.
False positives worry the team: The big goal is that Riot's anti-cheat solution can work completely autonomously. Nevertheless, you always want to have a human component in the ban process. Because the tool could wrongly block a legitimate player at any time.
But just because a player is very good doesn't mean he has to cheat right away. For example, one user managed to kill the entire opposing team with one Ultimate within the first five seconds after the start of the round.

There are also scammers outside of the game
Not only in Valorant itself, some players use unfair means, but also outside. For example, keys for the multiplayer shooter are currently in great demand. Some of them are captured with the help of bots and then sold again at horrific prices.
Riot Games does not agree with this behavior either. It was only on April 9 that the team blocked a number of sellers and botters. In addition, one warns of: "Don't buy Valorant accounts because you could lose them."
