Cyberpunk 2077: Sci-Fi hit is already making a profit

CD Projekt RED has hit the bull’s eye again, even if not all that glitters is gold on the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Nevertheless, Cyberpunk 2077 is already an absolute hit.

Reason: The company can not only look forward to the eight million pre-orders of the sci-fi role-playing game that have already been announced, th is is already making profits for the development studio at this point in time. The sales to early decision-makers alone have meant that all development and marketing costs for the game have already been recovered. CD Projekt RED is already in the profit zone with Cyberpunk 2077.

The company’s management has now confirmed this fact in a short financial report. The “expenses for development in connection with the game” as well as “the marketing and promotional costs – both the costs already incurred and the expected costs for the rest of 2020” have already been recorded.

The report even states that digital sales alone would have been enough to cover costs. All sales of the classic box version – and there were quite a few more – are already profitable for CD Projekt RED.

Cyberpunk 2077 is already writing its own success story in the early days. After the excellent pre-order numbers, the game advanced to the fastest-selling title on the PC within the first 24 hours of all time. This replaced World of WarCraft: Shadowlands, which had only recently set a PC record with over 3.7 million copies on launch day. This value has been pulverized with over 4.7 million PC sales.
