The loot-shooter Destiny and its sequel Destiny 2 take the players to a far future and let them explore the planets of our solar system and shoot away hordes of enemies after another. Doesn't really sound like cooking now, does it? But even in the vastness there are all sorts of goodies to discover, which has now caused the developers to a cookbook to announce the games.
The book has a simple name "Destiny: The Official Cookbook" and is expected to be available on August 4th. For around 33 euros you can put the browse in the closet, but at the moment it is only available in English. It is not yet known whether a German version will be submitted later.
What are the recipes?
Delicacies from space: Since the book has not yet been published, you can of course not give any information about all the recipes. However, a few appetizers have already been announced on the Amazon page of the cookbook, and among them await both new interpretations of well-known dishes and delicacies from the Destiny universe.
For example, the Gjallardoodles, which exist in the game as gift items, made it into the book. The extraterrestrial pastries are strongly reminiscent of normal Christmas cookies, but for fans of the series, the cookies with extra Destiny flair may taste twice as good.
The essential weapons in the game are also available in the book, they lend their names to some dishes. The wave splitter, for example, is a popular exotic rifle in the game, and there is a cocktail with the same name in the cookbook. Other confirmed recipes are ramen, coleslaw, and another cocktail called Reveler's Tonic.

Familiar with the lore: Everything doesn't really sound like Destiny at first, in fact most of these dishes are available in one form or another, but also in games.
A special treat for fans of the games: Each of the entries in the cookbook has a description written from the perspective of Eva Levante, a merchant found in the game. It provides you with additional information from the game world and has something interesting to say about each dish. Fans will surely recognize cross-references and allusions to figures and events here.
Not the first of its kind
In fact, cookbooks already exist for many games that you would not necessarily expect:
For example, in the radioactively contaminated wasteland of fallout games, one mostly feeds on the contaminated »delicacies«that come straight to the shotgun and are usually not the highest of feelings. And yet there is a Fallout cookbook that lets you feast in the style of the games (with compatible ingredients, of course).
Games like World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls or Overwatch also have similar books that are very popular with fans.
Almost every row that is bursting with lore and interesting background stories in their fictional world has such merchandise. And of course Destiny is one of them, which despite its only two games has a considerable amount of characters and stories.
