It looks like Microsoft is ready to bring Dolby Vision HDR Support for games Xbox Series X/S, Because new users can test this feature.
As Forbes said, the latest Xbox Insider Alpha ringtone release enables testers to use Dolby Vision HDR to (very) select the number of Xbox Series X and Series S games.
As reported on the site, at the time of writing, games that actually use Dolby Vision seem to be limited to Borderlands 3, Gear 5, Halo, Chief Chief Collection, and Destruction Sacrifice. time.
We know that we will use the technology “first on Xbox”, but there is no timetable when we can expect it on PlayStation at the time of writing.
However, some reports seem to indicate that this support is not as effective as Dolby and Microsoft had hoped. An update to the first article of Forbes pointed out that Dolby Vision is used as a “variant of the existing HGiG (HDR Game Interest Group) system, applicable to all HDR games”, rather than using the game’s own engine Dolby Vision.
It is worth noting that only certain models of TVs (such as Samsung) are not compatible with Dolby Vision.
Obviously, although Microsoft did not give a specific date, we can expect more Dolby Vision to be launched “soon”. However, if Xbox X Alpha Ring users are trying out this feature, it may mean that we can expect the official release earlier than 2021 instead of later.
