Doom: distros and platforms
Doom Eternal is a sequel to the 2016 restart of Doom.
Doom Eternal is released for PlayStation 4 as well as Xbox One and PC. A version of Google's Stadia game service will be released at the same time. Later in 2020, Doom Eternal will also land on the Nintendo Switch.
Doom sequel innovation
Compared with the previous generation, the innovation lies in the long-term close combat with chainsaw and strike technology and flamethrower. For the first time, you can also choose between different shooting modes. Visually, Doom Eternal should outperform all its predecessors. One of the reasons for this is that the damage models and wounds taken by the opponent are more realistic.
Like the series, Doom Eternal will have an additional multiplayer mode. Aside from Deathmatch and similar game variants, this time you can only expect one battle mode, where two players fight as doom as doom killers.
Technically, developer id Software also wants to cross the border with Doom Eternal. Thanks to the Tech 7 engine, Doom Eternal was able to achieve surprisingly high frame rates on PCs. If you have the proper hardware, shooters can display up to 1,000 FPS [frames per second].
