Doom Eternal's soundtrack has a demonic message

Doom Eternal is already one of the best shooters of the year and lives especially from its atmosphere and spectacular monster action. But one thing has always distinguished the Doom series in addition to these attributes: The Easter Eggs. So many have accumulated over the years that we have even put together a list of the best Easter Eggs in the Doom series for you.

But of course this is far from over. Also in the latest part of the action shooter series, numerous innuendos have crept in, sometimes more, sometimes less obviously. This secret definitely belongs to the last category: there is one in the soundtrack New edition of the cover of Doom 2: Hell on Earth

from 1994!

Goat head soundtrack

The Easter Egg was discovered by a few knowledgeable users in the subreddit on Doom. The obscure and really damn well hidden picture can be found in the track "Welcome Back Great Slayer".

A Spectogram of the song shows the cover of the classic Doom 2: Hell on Earth. We see the impressive demon with goat head "The Icon of Sin", who is as threatening as ever in the fight with the Doom Slayer

falls.

This technique is of course nothing new: Among other things, bands from the metal scene like to build secret messages into the lyrics of songs that only come to light by playing backwards. Some black metal songs even contain satanic messages when played forward (Höhö).

But other big players in the gaming scene have already resorted to tricks, such as Valve with similarly hidden but less demonic symbols in Portal 2.

Demonic tradition

Like much of the game itself, this Easter Egg is one Tribute to the predecessors of Doom Eternal. Doom (2016) already found pentagrams and other satanic symbols hidden in the soundtrack. Only with various programs that can visualize the music can you really understand how deep the developers' love for the Doom brand really goes.

The Australian is responsible for this really impressive Easter Egg Mick Gordon, who has already composed the music for the predecessor of 2016 as well as other games, for example Wolfenstein: the New Order or Prey. However, it remains questionable whether we will find such secrets in future branches. After all, Gordon had left the games after disputes with id Software.
