After Final Fantasy X came the spin-off sequel Final Fantasy X-2 – and many fans wanted it to continue after that. According to Square Enix, that’s not impossible …
Fans of Yuna, Tidus, Shuyin, Lenne and other Guardians may still have reason to celebrate, because a sequel to Final Fantasy X-2 seems to be possible. At least developer Square Enix in the person of character designer Tetsuya Nomura and designer and writer Motomu Toriyama made some statements that make one sit up and take notice.
A continuation of the story from Final Fantasy X is by no means officially confirmed at the moment, but it could well come to that. In any case, Toriyama puts the chances of another sequel after X-2 at “not zero”.
In an interview with the Japanese Famitsu he became even clearer and emphasized that there would even be a plot for a new part: “If we are going to do X-3, we already have a plot written by Nojima-san ready. Currently it’s all in your sleep, but the plot itself already exists. “
In this regard, Toriyama added: “The probability of this is not zero. But we are not in a phase in which we can already talk about it as long as we have not finally produced the Final Fantasy VII Remake.”
Above all, the latter statement suggests that Final Fantasy X-3 could receive the green light as soon as Final Fantasy VII Remake has been completed. Until then, it could still be some time, because a release date for the continuation of the remake of part seven is completely in the dark.
