This year's gamecom event is ongoing.
The continuous crisis of coronavirus outbreaks worldwide has caused huge losses to the gaming industry. Several major events have now been cancelled, including the E3 2020 in June.
Since there are no major events in the first half of this year, fans hope that it will be realized in the second half of the year. Now, E3 is coming soon, and everyone's attention is focused on gamecom in 2020. According to event organizers, this year's world's largest gaming conference will not be cancelled.
Organizer issues a formal statement On twitter With reference to the recent Cologne ban, which took effect on April 10, it added that gamescom's position in late August kept the ban away from this.

"We are currently inquiries about how the potential threat of coronavirus affects Gamescom. We take this topic very seriously as the health of all trade visitors and partners is our top priority.
"On March 10, according to a decree issued by the state government on the same day, Cologne City banned all major events for 1,000 participants by April 10 (inclusive). Since Gamescom is held at the end of August, we do not currently Affected by the Act.
"However, we will of course follow the recommendations of the competent authorities on major events, evaluate them daily and make decisions after careful consideration. Based on the current status of the determined dates, preparations for Gamecom 2020 are proceeding as planned.
"If Cologne delays or cancels gamescom, all tickets purchased at the official ticket store will be refunded for the official tickets already purchased. The voucher code will lose its validity and will be used again for new events. We look forward to your and your participation . "
Gamescom 2020 will be held from August 26th to 29th.
