Gamescom 2020 organizers have updated their plans for the annual event, stating that the digital format will proceed as planned, and this spring will be "evaluated" to see if the show can proceed as planned.
The annual Gamescom exhibition will last five months, but given the corona crisis, some planned measures have been outlined.
According to the organizers, existing digital options (such as gamecom: Opening Night Live and other streams) will "substantially expand and add new modules."
This means Gamescom will "deterministically" occur in digital format at least August 25-29, and will not be delayed.
The organizers will evaluate how gamecom will be on site in Cologne in mid-May based on the latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic at the time. They said that if live events were possible, more information would be provided by then.
Those who plan to attend the show will receive a refund for the paid ticket, and if the game show cannot be held in Cologne, the exhibitor will be refunded the full amount.
Organizers will announce information on digital formats in the coming months.
