It only took a few weeks, but finally there is a mod that allows you to play Half-Life: Alyx without VR Helmet.
Since then, there has been a lot of writing. Half-Life: Alyx Players discovered a set of console commands that allowed the game to run without a VR headset, but a creative modifier has now created the first VR-less modifier.
The mod operates exactly as you think: turning Half-Life: Alyx into a traditional 3D flat game that can be played outside of VR. Alyx already supports the smooth movement used by the mod. It also maps the remaining functions on the VR controller to traditional keyboard keys.
It's not perfect, the mod's Github official page even warns of some tricky parts, but it does work. The only other problem at this time is that the setup process will take you some time. The video below will guide you through the process, and it involves a lot.
We recently talked to Valve about why Half-Life ’s iconic crowbar did n’t join Alyx and why the game did n’t have a driving area.
Thanks, PC Gamer.
