The promising VR shooter Half-Life: Alyx now has a specific release date, but even a few weeks before it looks rather poor in terms of the necessary hardware. The Valve Index remains largely out of print.

The announcement of Half-Life: Alyx as a full-fledged VR shooter gave the VR headset Valve Index an immense boost at the end of last year. The sales figures for the PC VR headset skyrocketed and until mid-January the hardware was largely out of stock. Anyone who thought that the situation would improve noticeably by the time the shooter was released, has been deceived to date.
How Road to VR little has changed since then. Both online and at retailers, it is almost impossible to currently purchase the Valve Index in order to be able to gamble Half-Life: Alyx on March 23, 2020. Only the headset without controller and without base is currently available in Japan, according to the report.
Only last week Valve had spoken briefly and promised to have news about the availability of the Valve Index soon; Since then, however, one has been waiting for an official statement. Interested parties can register for a corresponding newsletter and will be informed as soon as new copies are available. According to the website, none of the registered interested parties have actually received such a message to date.
Half-Life: Alyx is a system seller for the Valve Index, but can actually be played with other VR headsets. Valve designed the game to work with other devices, but the majority of the shooter franchise fans have preferred to use the Valve device since the announcement.
Half-Life: Alyx will be released on March 23, 2020 and will take place between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.
