Harry Potter is currently again very much in trend: Not only is the book series about the sorcerer’s apprentice getting a new video game adaptation in the form of the open-world role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy, which GameStar readers have been waiting for. As the Hollywood Reporter wants to know, the streaming service HBO Max is currently working on a live action series for the Harry Potter franchise.

The project is currently still in an extremely early stage: Neither authors nor other staff are supposed to be firmly connected to the Harry Potter series and no firm agreements have yet been made. Since nothing is known about the plot at the moment, it is not yet possible to say whether the series will revolve around Harry Potter itself or just play in the same Wizarding World franchise.
That a series based on the Harry Potter franchise is to be created is not surprising: Warner Bros. already celebrated a huge success with the film adaptation of JK Rowling’s book series. The seven books were adapted as eight feature films that grossed more than 7 billion US dollars together. Warner’s prequel film series Fantastic Beasts, the third part of which is due to be released in 2022, has also been a huge hit at the box office so far.
