Hitman 3 should now contain the predecessors as DLC levels on the PC as promised, provided you own both games. Publisher IO Interactive is currently negotiating with Epic how the framework should look like.
If you buy Hitman 3, you should also be able to enjoy its predecessors 211; if you own them – as free DLCs in the new game. At least that’s what publisher IO Interactive said. It seemed to have forgotten, however, that the player base is split between Steam and the Epic Games Store.
First of all the good news: If you own Hitman 1 and 2, you will be able to play the predecessors in Hitman 3 as DLC levels, as announced. The publisher IO Interactive has announced via Twitter that they are currently in talks with Epic Games in order to find a solution to the chaos surrounding the integration of the Hitman predecessors as quickly as possible – regardless of the platform.

First of all, PC gamers should only be able to integrate their predecessors into Hitman 3 for free if they have copies of the games in the same store – the Epic Games Store. Hitman 3 appears exclusively on Epic. But there is one catch, because Hitman 2 is not even available in the Epic Store. This initially caused some displeasure among fans, after all, they would have had to buy Hitman 2 again, even if they already owned the game on Steam. Anyone who owns Hitman 2 on Steam would have received nothing from the deal.
This morning finally came the resolution of IO: “We guarantee that the players concerned will not have to buy Hitman 2 again”. However, the solution to the problem will still take a while and will only be available in the coming weeks. The publisher is missing its own release window, but it should make up with some fans.
As a small compensation, Hitman 1’s Game of the Year access pass is available free of charge to all Hitman 3 players on the PC for the first 10 days after release – but only if you pre-order Hitman 3 or buy it up to the tenth day after release. It starts with the third round of Agent 47 on January 20th.
