In Civilization 6, a lot will change fundamentally soon

Almost four and a half years after its original release, the 4X strategy game Civilization 6 from developer Firaxis is still getting new content. It was not until the evening of January 28, 2021 that a new civilization was published with Vietnam and a new leader for the Mongols with Kublai Khan.

The two new items are part of the paid New Frontier Season Pass, but as the developers have now revealed, all players will soon get one huge update

– and completely free of charge.

Two thirds of all civilizations are being revised

For the release of the penultimate new content package of the current Frontier Pass, Periscope took place on the streaming platform Livestream instead, where the developers answered all sorts of questions to their loyal followers. During the broadcast it was announced by the way that in April 2021 a massives Balance-Update

should be published.

According to the developers, the patch should be roughly revise two thirds of all existing civilizations and thus ensure a better game balance. Since there are now a total of 50 different civilizations in Civilization 6, around 30 to 35 of the playable races should be adapted.

Which races could be adapted?

Shortly after the announcement, start im Forum the fansite Civfanatics started a big discussion about which of the civilizations needed the announced balance adjustments most urgently.

As one user writes, all races who appeared with the Civilization 6: Gathering Storm add-on and afterwards are already very strong and well balanced. The mega update could be dedicated to all the races that were released with the base game, the first DLC and the first expansion Civilization 6: Rise and Fall.
