Due to issues surrounding the global COVID-19 pandemic, the second part of "Our Last Part" was recently postponed. Ironically, a game of deadlock after a virus outbreak caused humans to kneel.
It was a heavy blow for the fans, who delayed the game again earlier this year and waited patiently for the game-especially because we do n’t even know when the game will be launched. All I know is that after playing part 2 of "Our Doomsday" at a preview event last year, it seemed worth waiting.
Just the week before, someone claimed to have an internal understanding of the game ’s story, so we might as well make a distinction while flicking our thumbs. Potential Spoiler follow The video below.
The leak claimed that the main enemy of the game, Seraphim, is a group of Christian extremists who murdered Ellie ’s love hobby because they regarded same-sex relationships as sin. Let's review the trailers and see how they are kept.
But first, what is that name?
Medieval Christian theology says that Seraphim is an angelic creature, located at the highest level in heaven. They protect the Holy Throne beside God.
Now, "-ite" is used to indicate that someone belongs. This means that the Seraphim is literally: "Angel".
This name alone has provided some basis for the so-called leak. So let's take a look at the trailer.
The second part of "Our Last Part"-PlayStation Experience 2016: reveal trailer
Even this original trailer, its song "Crossing the Valley" also hints at the religious theme of the game. This is a short passage of the Bible, Psalm 23: 4 – "Even if I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not be afraid of evil because you are with me. Your fishing rod and your staff, they comfort me."
For comparison, this song is: "I walked through the valley of the shadow of death; and I will not be afraid of evil, because I turn a blind eye to all this. My thoughts and guns comfort me; because I know I will kill me Enemy.
"In my life, kindness and compassion will surely follow me; I will live on this earth forever. I still walk by the still water, and they restore me to the soul. But I took the wrong path because I was wrong Now. "
The song of Shawn James directly quotes the scriptures of the Bible, but there is a key difference between the two. In the Bible, the author is comforted by the fact that God is standing beside them. They were guided by God in the Valley of Death-a traditional tool of shepherds-a staff.
In the Shawn James version, he did not receive God's comfort. Regardless of whether he uses a metaphorical firearm, he is comforted by his thoughts and firearms. He felt safe because he trusted himself, and he turned a blind eye to the evil of the world, because he became insensitive to the world. This song is about rejecting religion.
In this case, it may be that Ellie refused religion in preparation for revenge against Christian cults. "Because I'm wrong, I can't take the right path." This may reflect how Christianity claims that its sexual behavior is a sin.
The trailer ended with Ellie telling Joel that she "will find and kill all the last people", which also supports the theory that this is a story of revenge, she plans to fight back Dina after they kill her lover
"The Last of Us" Part 2 Trailer 2
This trailer shows some new characters, although they obviously have an important meaning in the game story. Why can they still get their own trailer without the prompt of Ellie or Joel? It also gives us a preliminary understanding of Seraphim.
One interesting thing about Seraphim is that they often communicate with whistle, just like shepherds communicate with their flock.
In the Bible-Zechariah 10: 8-God says he will whistle one day to bring the flock back to himself / religion: "I will whistle for them and gather them inside because I have redeemed Back to them, they will be as much as they were before. "
Richard Cambier, the chief game designer, told me when I returned to E3 2018 to ask him about the whistle of Seraphim: "The way they speak and use these whistle is religious."
This trailer shows that an unknown woman was dragged into an open space, where she saw the bodies of countless people, everyone was hanged and fired. The little-known woman was pulled by a rope around her neck, and then a seraph named Emily put the bucket on her feet so that she would not die.
Then, Emily gestured to the corpse with a knife, telling the mysterious woman "They are shrouded in sin". Perhaps this means that they were killed because they were infected. Seraphim may regard cordyceps as a manifestation of sin, and the transformation into a pest is the final stage of corruption.
Just when the woman was about to cut her stomach, Emily was disturbed by the whistle, and another woman named Yara was dragged into the open space. Emily knows Yara and calls her by name-it seems that Yara is also a Seraph who defected from the group. Emily then asked where the other "apostate" was, probably talking about Yala's brother Lev. Apostates refer to those who condemn religious order.
After Yara vomited on Emily's face, she ordered her companions to "clamp the wings" and hit her elbow with a hammer. If the six-winged angel is an "angel", the cutting of the wings is both a symbol of inconvenience and a symbolic gesture.
Then, Yara rescued Yara with the unknown woman. Soon after, the clicker set it as a clicker, and Yara called it "the devil." This provides more evidence for Seraphim, seeing it as the ultimate manifestation of human sin.
"The Last of Us" Part 2 Game Trailer
This trailer made us see Dina for the first time, and she kissed Ellie in a community dance. Last year, the part I played also revolved around the relationship between Ellie and Dina.
After they kissed, the trailer cut into the gameplay and we saw Ellie shaking a Seraphites around her neck. Similarly, when cults communicate in their own secret language, we hear these whistles.
Once again, we saw someone disbanded as one of the Seraphims said, "They are trapped by sin." When Allie was finally found by a person, they issued a warning, pointing at Allie She is a "wolf". Obviously, the wolf is one of the shepherd's biggest threats. In the Bible, wolves are also metaphors for evil characters, and sometimes even metaphors for Satan himself-anyone who lives on a God-fearing Christian.
"Beware of false prophets, these prophets put on sheepskin, but are inwardly robbing wolves" – Saint Matthew 7:15
At the end of the trailer, Ellie executed a man and whispered, "Noah, that is the lamb that was sacrificed." This further proves that this group is a radical Christian. It will be interesting to see the reaction when the audience finally releases.
Personally, I am now more interested in this game. "The Last of Us" is amazing because it is solid, and it fictionalizes a religious activity of a game originally intended to be made in the American real world. I just hope Naughty Dog can publish it without having to call back to a country that may cause controversy.
