To talk about Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver we have to go back to April 2001, it was when both editions went on sale in Europe. Now, at the gates of 2020, we have learned something quite curious that is related to these games. It turns out that Dr. Lava’s Lost Pokemon has posted on his Twitter account, @DrLavaYT) (https://twitter.com/DrLavaYT) an image that has no waste.
When Pokémon Gold and Silver was just a project the Pokémon Marill was not only pink, nor could it evolve
Beta Marill:
In Gold & Silver's 1997 demo, not only was Marill pink, but also a non-evolving Pokemon – Azumarill didn't exist yet in 1997. That's right, before he was Pikablu… he was Pinkachu.

If we return to the present, you just have to see Pokémon Sword and Shield to see how the franchise has evolved. Although the bases of the game are the same, we could say that it has improved in every way. Something logical after so many years. What has not changed is that it remains a success. Pokémon Sword and Shield sold more than 6 million copies in its first week. We will see if it finally ends up being one of the best selling titles of Nintendo Switch.
