While Minecraft has just celebrated its eleven years, Mojang has decided to get a makeover. It must now be called Mojang Studios, a change that reflects the scale taken by the firm born in Sweden in 2009, bought by Microsoft in 2014, and today composed of additional teams based in Japan, China, the United States United States and the United Kingdom.
This new name comes with a new logo, revealed in the video below. Mojang Studios slipped a little teasing: at the 42nd second, we can see the mentions "new game 1.exe" and "new game 2.exe", which seems to indicate that two new games are in preparation. On the Minecraft site, the firm indicates that it has multiple projects for the future, including a feature film Minecraft, which the latest news is targeting a release in March 2022.
Since our humble beginnings in Stockholm, we have entered the 1920s as a multi-title, multi-site company. After Minecraft Earth and Minecraft: Dungeons, we are planning a feature film, preparing an epic live show, and playing with ideas for new games.
While waiting to see what Mojang Studios has in store, remember that the dungeon-crawler Minecraft Dungeons will land on May 26 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and in the Xbox Game Pass catalog.
