Oddworld: Stranger's Retribution originally appeared in 2005. The cult title later made the jump again and again to other platforms – and now there will soon be an HD remake for the Switch.

This HD reissue of the classic had previously been confirmed for the new year 2020, but now there is a specific release date. In a press release, French publisher Microids has now confirmed that the digital release will be on January 23, 2020; In the course of the first quarter, there will also be a standard and limited edition available for purchase.
Why was the announcement made by Microids and not by the developer studio Oddworld Inhabitants? The two companies have signed a new publishing deal, which also has more to do than just releasing Oddworld: Stranger's Retaliation HD for the Switch.
Without naming specific further titles, it goes on to say that a total of "three classic Oddworld titles" will all be launched on the Switch in the current year 2020. So there are other classics from the well-known franchise for the hybrid console from Nintendo.
Oddworld Inhabitants has planned four releases as an independent developer studio for 2020. This also includes the expected new Oddworld: Soulstorm, which should be available on the PC via the Epic Games Store as well as on consoles.
