The sequel Overwatch 2 has been quiet for a long time since it was announced at BlizzCon 2019, but that should finally change. Blizzard has now announced a date when you can count on more information and impressions.
Overwatch 2 will make its next big appearance since it was announced at BlizzCon 2019 in a digital follow-up event. Blizzard Entertainment has now officially confirmed this in advance. After previously announcing a presentation of Diablo IV as part of BlizzConline, this was now – unsurprisingly – also for Overwatch 2. Fans of the franchise now have certainty before the Christmas break and a reason to look forward to February of the new year to look forward to.
This year’s BlizzCon was postponed due to the corona pandemic and will now take place exclusively as an online event from February 19-20, 2021. Then Overwatch 2 will return to the scene, as Game Director Jeff Kaplan confirms in a statement on the occasion of the introduction of a new character for Overwatch.
“I know a lot of you didn’t see this coming. As you know, our main focus is on Overwatch 2, which we’ll be talking more about in February at BlizzCon Online,” said Kaplan. “We can’t wait to tell you more about Overwatch 2 and show you more of it. We know it has taken a long time and we have been too quiet in the meantime. We still have a long way to go and just want to manage expectations. But: We work really hard and we want this game to be great for you – both the current live game and the upcoming sequel. “
Overwatch 2 still has no release date. Maybe Blizzard has one ready for BlizzConline? We’ll keep you up to date!
