Michael Chu may not be well known to many gamers among you, and yet it is precisely that that plays a decisive role in several titles. At cult developer Blizzard Entertainment, he most recently worked as a lead writer and in this function, among other things, was responsible for almost all the historical backgrounds of the successful online action game Overwatch.
Chu was part of Blizzard Entertainment for 20 years and was not only a major contributor to Overwatch. The background stories he wrote also found their way into other blockbusters such as Diablo III, World of WarCraft or even the Overwatch 2 currently under development. In the future, however, the developer studio will have to do without Chu's talent.
The lead writer, who also wrote the original stories of the Overwatch characters and was responsible for numerous accompanying comics & more, will go different ways in the future, as he himself confirmed: "Overwatch was a life-changing experience for me. I always had that Feeling that games and the stories they tell have the unique opportunity to bring people closer together, "says Chu, who will focus on empathy in the further course of the statement.
Blizzard Entertainment has also said in the meantime about the long-term employee leaving: "Michael's contributions to the games and stories in the universes of Warcraft, Diablo and Overwatch have always been a source of inspiration and we will always be grateful for the time he spent at Blizzard We wish him all the best for the future. "
How things are going for Chu is currently unknown. Anyone who has replaced him at Blizzard Entertainment, particularly with regard to the upcoming Overwatch 2, has also not yet been communicated.
