The original XCOM creator Julian Gollop had published a comparable title and thus a spiritual successor for the PC with Phoenix Point in 2019. This is finally coming to consoles.
It had long been clear that Phoenix Point should not only be available for the PC, but also for consoles. The implementations for PS4 and Xbox One have been a long time coming and we didn’t even know when they will finally be available. This has changed now.
About the English-speaking colleagues from IGN developer Snapsho Games announced that Phoenix Point will be released on October 1st, 2021 for PS4 and Xbox One – but that’s not all. The futuristic interpretation of the earth in the game is also being expanded, because with “Corrupted Horizons” a bigger new DLC is on the agenda. This will appear directly with the console release and will also be available for PC players from October 1st.
The console version is subtitled Behemoth Edition and will receive the three previous DLC packages, an additional weapons package and free next-gen upgrades in addition to the main game. In short: Phoenix Point will subsequently also be optimized and published for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S – then with a revised UI and improved controls.
