It has long been confirmed that there will finally be PvP battles in Pokémon GO against other trainers as part of the GO Battle League or GO Kampf-Liga. However, it was still unclear when the feature would finally be launched. Now it is clear: It should be ready this week!
In an update on the official website, Niantic now announces that the new feature will initially be rolled out as part of a first preseason of the GO Kampf-Liga. This is intended to further ensure the stability of the game, while further optimizations for the start of the first correct season are made in the course of the pre-season.
"The preseason is the period before a competition season begins. With your help we can optimize and balance the GO Kampf League during this time. We also use this period to observe how the GO Kampf League is used we can determine the optimal duration of the seasons, the threshold for ranks and other details Blog Post we have announced some already established details: Coach fights in the GO Kampf-Liga rotate between three leagues, you can measure yourself against other coaches in rank and also get rewards for your rank ", it continues in this context.
In the pre-season the GO Kampf-Liga begins with the Superliga, followed by the Hyperliga and finally the Meisterliga. The leagues rotate every two weeks. You can also increase your rank during the pre-season, but the rank will be partially reset at the beginning of the first season. However, you get rewards for battles and victories and can use the time to train.

The GO Kampf League rewards are as follows, according to official information:
- Rewards are based on rank and battles won: Trainers first have to walk 5 kilometers to qualify for the GO Combat League and to unlock five online matches. This process can be repeated up to three times a day. When you fight, depending on your rank and number of victories in these five battles, you can earn a lot of stardust. Of course, more wins mean more stardust! You can also win rare items like special sweets and TMs and exclusive Pokémon encounters!
- Wrestler-Pikachu and matching accessories for avatars: You already know the wrestler pikachu in wrestling outfit from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Pokémon Tekken. Now it can also be caught in Pokémon GO – but only if you participate in the GO Combat League. If you rank up during the pre-season, exclusive wrestler-pikachu-style accessories will also be a reward for your avatar. Put these clothes on to demonstrate your fighting spirit, because only participants in the GO Kampf-Liga can get hold of them.
- Premium Raid Passes will soon be called Premium Battle Passes: This pass may seem familiar to you – but it is only the premium raid pass with a new name! With this pass you can take part in raid fights or premium fights in the GO Kampf-Liga. You will find that you get even better rewards for premium battles! However, the Premium Battle Pass not only improves the rewards for each win, it also reduces the number of wins for certain Pokémon encounters. However, the Premium Combat Pass has no influence on your rank or rating – you can only improve these by winning.
- Early access to the GO Kampf-Liga with "fight now": Do you know that when you find out after a walk that you still miss a kilometer before you can fight? With the "Fight Now" feature, you can take part in the GO Combat League earlier than Poké Coins. The costs decrease the closer you get to the goal of 5 kilometers. Note that you must have traveled at least 2 kilometers before you can use this option. After all, you should go outside and move! However, you can always choose to cover the entire distance to participate in the GO Combat League without Poké Coins.
