Niantic is currently testing a new feature in Pokémon Go that many players have wanted for a long time. However, there is a small catch.
For the first time in Pokémon Go, it is possible to trade over longer distances. Previously, this interaction was only possible if both players were a few meters apart.
From today to Monday, November 16, you can and should try the new feature, as it is expressly a test phase. However, you cannot interact with just any friend on the globe. The only restriction is that the exchange partner must be within a radius of 12 kilometers. That may not sound like much at first, but should be sufficient in any case against the background of many locally organized communities.
Why the restriction at all? On the one hand, Niantic tries to make the game more pleasant and currently safer for users, but on the other hand, in its own interest, it has to be careful not to unbalance the collecting-focused gameplay, as some Pokémon can only be found in certain regions of the world are.
