In recent months we have seen numerous leaks within the video game sector. The last look closely at the franchise Pokemon, and is that the source code of the third generation games, Ruby and Sapphire Pokémon, has appeared publicly for unknown reasons. Thanks to this, users have been able to find interesting details about this game, such as the existence of combined attacks.

Much information about discarded items, and about others that were left, has been collected thanks to this leak. The Twitter user @eclipse_tt He has produced a thread in which he collects the main changes between the preliminary version and the one that came to stores to be introduced in Game Boy Advance. To highlight, to begin with, the original names of Jirachi, Deoxys, Plusle and Minun, which were to be, respectively, Ganboo, Jiigen, Bachin and Bachikone in Japanese. Also, and as we have already anticipated, the existence of combined attacks for the double combat that premiered this installment.

Pokémon they will use at the same time movements like Embers and Tornado could generate other specials like Heat Wave, in addition to many other options and combinations. It was a mechanic that was discarded at the last minute, since his remains remain not only in the preliminary version of the game, but also among the data of the final game. Will they be rescued in the rumored remakes? Possibly the change, among other things, was due to the change in the game's release date. And it is that, as has been verified by reviewing the internal data, its original release date was going to be 3-4 months after it ended up being

. It went on sale on November 21, 2002 in Japan, but its initial plan was to do so in March 2003.

Lost animations, contest changes… What Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire left behind

These changes are not the only ones that appear in the source code of this beta version of Ruby and Sapphire. As this user points out, the contests were going to have a mechanic that would give each judge a favorite move and creature. In this way, at the end of the rounds, they would offer extra points to the trainers who used that attack or carried that Pokémon. Likewise, they have also found sprites of the creatures that were never used, or even animations removed for the beginning of the combats.

There is much more discovered and probably much more that can be discovered over the days. The Pokémon community is very active, especially when it comes to digging into the franchise's past and even its present, as happened shortly before the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield. And we have already seen how, even today, data is still being revealed about preliminary versions of installments such as Pokémon Gold and Silver.
