For a few days now, the most popular extraterrestrial hunter in Hollywood cinema has returned thanks to the arrival of the video game Predator: Hunting Grounds. Available on PC and PlayStation 4, this new production signed Illfonic proposes to embody two different roles, that of the hunter and that of the hunted. To help you familiarize yourself with these two gameplays, we offer, in our complete Predator solution: Hunting Grounds, two video tips. In the first, we focus on the role of the hunter, so put on your tack and leave to stalk the commando!
Although overpowered and capable of annihilating an entire group of mercenaries using its long claws, our Predator also has some weaknesses. It is for this reason that we share some tips for hunting your human prey.
The first thing to do when you start a game as a Predator is to get to the center of the map as quickly as possible to get an overview of the situation. You can get there in two or three movements using your powerful jumps. Once more or less in the center of it, climb up a tree, and activate your thermal vision. The latter offers several options. The first is of course to highlight all the elements producing heat, such as wild boars, soldiers controlled by the A.I., footprints and of course, your targets. But how to differentiate a commando from a simple soldier?
Besides the fact that the four commandos embodied by players are much more mobile than normal, the title offers several gadgets to carry out your hunt! To help you orient yourself in the direction of a player, Predator: Hunting Grounds provides a wave on the left of your screen. The latter comes alive when your camera is aimed at an important target. But if this option is too abstract for you, do not worry, you have other much more effective tools … Always the thermal vision option activated, it is possible to send a pulse which covers the entire the map using the arrows on your pad, at least on PlayStation 4. The latter certainly shows you the position of your four prey. Once your targets are located and highlighted by a red halo, you just have to start chasing them. Be careful however, this impulse is to be used sparingly since it consumes your energy (we will come back to this later) and recharges very slowly.
But thermal vision is not only used for that, it also makes it possible to locate shots or explosions, and if there are explosions, it means that the commandos are not far away. Indeed, your thermal vision highlights the noise emitted by your prey by small white circles representing sound waves. A multitasking tool, thermal vision can also scan your future victims when they are in your field of vision, ideal so as not to confuse your victim with local authorities. Finally, it is also possible to locate your enemies without infrared vision by listening only to what is happening around you, or by observing the scenery. For example, if the heroes make noise, birds will fly away.
You should know that everything you do as a Predator consumes energy or almost, and if this energy reserve comes to zero, your alien hunter will no longer be able to use his gadgets. So use all of the Predator's gadgets with intelligence. We therefore advise you to save your energy by activating, for example, camouflage which allows you to be invisible at the very last moment, that is when you are approaching your main prey. Note that the enemies controlled by the I.A. are not a real threat to your monster. Camouflage allows you to get closer to your victim, but be careful, if you run at full speed, the latter will hear you and will not hesitate to shoot in the right direction. The sound of the game benefits from good spatialization. So remember this, just because you are invisible doesn't mean opponents can't hear you.
Remember also that to overcome your victims, you must attack them one by one. To do this, you must spot the lost sheep. Alone, a commando is harmless, but in a group, when they focus their shots on your Predator, they become very dangerous. Do not hesitate to vary the approaches. Most of the time, the commandos will look for you in the trees. Take advantage of their naivety to surprise them by moving on the ground. In order to be unpredictable, also change the way you proceed, sometimes use close attacks, sometimes distant attacks. For distant attacks, use your concentrated shot from your plasma rifle while staying in the trees. The more concentrated your plasma shooting, the more formidable it is, but beware, the laser device of this weapon is also visible from miles away. It will therefore be necessary to change position with each of your shots.
Assets and weapons to use at the start of the game
At the start of the game, your Predator will unfortunately have a low level, so you will have to play again and again in Predator or in Commando in order to reach at least grade number fifteen. Indeed, once the latter is reached, it will be possible to equip yourself with a more or less complete arsenal, in other words a net launcher allowing you to interrupt the shots of your captured enemies for a short period of time, ideal to focus on the more aggressive players. Once you have reached this level fifteen, we advise you to arm yourself with this famous net thrower and to use the following assets: Impenetrable, First Aid and Intrepid. The first therefore, as its name suggests, reduces the damage inflicted by firearms. The second allows you to heal faster and the last, available from level twelve, allows you to inflict more damage when you attack in close combat. Obviously, these are just simple proposals. It is up to you to modify these assets according to the way you play.
Don't hesitate to retreat!
One last piece of advice, don't hesitate to retreat. Indeed, if you want to win the battle, you will have to work your opponents on the corps, until they use the least of their resources. When you are injured or put one of your prey on the ground, do not hesitate to turn back to reassess the situation or even to treat yourself using the care kit located in your weapon selection menu. If you have exhausted all your care supplies, also know that it is possible to restore your health by feeding on wild boars. If you come across one, shoot it down, it will then be marked on your card. If necessary, you will return to rest with him.
Also be aware that leaving a man on the ground can be helpful. Once you have injured a hero, perch in a tree and wait for a second target to revive his teammate. At this point, it's up to you to choose your next attack, a devastating plasma rifle shot or a direct approach with an overpowered leap.
Before leaving us, we suggest some additional strategies. You should know that each enemy base offers equipment useful for commandos such as ammo bags or medical kits. To prevent heroes from using them, sabotage them. The less resources your opponents have, the more sure you are of winning the game. Also note that if your life drops to zero, your Predator automatically activates the Last Breath option. The latter, usable once per game allows you to recover from life one last time, and without using a care kit. However, you will have to hide as quickly as possible, otherwise it will be guaranteed death. Besides, if you die, it is possible to activate your self-destruction. If you have arrived at this stage, it is surely that you have lost, but you never know, sometimes, by exploding your Predator, it is possible to make one or two additional victims.
Now that you have all the cards in hand to collect the maximum of trophies, we wish you good hunting!
