Amazon is ready to push the game aggressively.
According to the latest report from The New York Times, Amazon It is investing heavily in its gaming division to make itself a key player in the industry.
This is the company's "most significant investment in original entertainment" since producing its own TV shows and movies. A large part of this is a cloud gaming service being developed by Amazon called Project Tempo. It is rumored that Amazon has been developing its own game streaming platform for some time, but this is the first time we have heard this code name.
Little is known about the service, but sources told The New York Times that an early version of the service may be launched this year, but may be postponed until 2021. However, the cloud is only part of Amazon's gaming plan.
The company also has its own development studio, with two games-MMO New World and multiplayer shooter Crucible-both of which will be released in May. Amazon's vice president of game services and studios told The New York Times that it "incorporates Amazon practices into game production."
"In general, it's about taking advantage of Amazon's strengths and introducing them to games," said Mike Frazzini, vice president of game services and studios at Amazon.
Amazon is also developing interactive games, hoping that it will naturally fit the Twitch it owns. "In this Twitch synchronous and interactive environment, you have a player, a streaming media and a viewer, and we share this idea," Frazzini said.
