We are only a few weeks away from the release of PUBG’s new big map.
Crafton revealed, PlayerUnknown’s BattlegroundsThe next map, codenamed Tiger, is now officially named Taikoo. This is the first 8x8km map of the game in many years. It will land on the PC on July 7 and on the game console on July 15.
As you might expect, testing of the new map will begin one week before these dates on the game test server for each platform. Although the developer did not disclose much information in this week’s announcement, it has previously stated that Taego will be based in Korean. This is also the first map ever to allow players to return to the game after death.
Krafton also didn’t say how this will work, but thanks fans for some clever explanations (via @PlayerIGN), it looks like PUBG is getting a Warzone style Gulag, where the dead players will have to fight for the right to rejoin the action.
The trailer seen above actually shows the Gulag Island where fighting may take place, which is located in the southeast of the map. You can also-almost-outline what looks like a new weapon: the K-2 assault rifle, a Korean-made weapon that makes sense in the new environment.

Of course, PUBG has tried to respawn the system before, but it runs the timer just like you might find in TDM. We will determine when update 12.2 arrives on the test server.
