It was discovered over the weekend that Grand Theft Auto 4 is no longer available for purchase through Steam.
Rockstar can now explain the mysterious disappearance of the game. You can blame the game on Windows Live.
"The Grand Theft Auto IV was originally created for the Windows Live gaming platform," the company said in a statement.
"Since Microsoft no longer supports Windows Live games, it cannot generate additional keys needed to continue selling the current version of the game. We are looking for other options to distribute GTAIV for the PC and will share more information soon."
Although GTA 4's store page is still on Steam, the purchase button has since been removed. Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game can still be purchased at the corresponding stores.
Grand Theft Auto 4 was first released on a PC in 2008, the year Microsoft first released Windows Live games. Windows Live games were discontinued in 2014.
