According to a report by market analyst NPD Group, PS4 and Xbox One sales in the United States have fallen faster than expected.
Compared with the same period in 2019, hardware spending in January this year fell by 35%. Similarly, total spending on all gaming hardware, software, accessories, and gaming cards is down 26% from last year.
Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad wrote on Twitter: "The US NPD report is interesting because PS4 and XB1 hardware sales in January 2020 were significantly lower than PS3 in January 2013 And 360. "" The next generation of game consoles is just around the corner, but both have fallen more than expected. The switch continues to remain stable. "

He attributed the decline to a number of factors, including both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems "that have remained at the current price level for many years" and "the impact of early PS5 / XSX releases (backwards compatible).
He added that the recent shift to high-definition gaming across multiple devices could also affect sales, as well as the high-profile triple A delay from Cyberpunk 2077 to The Last of Us 2.
